AI in Education Research & Insights
We sit at the intersection of software engineering and educational innovation — bringing implementation expertise, AI knowledge and a user-centered mindset to research consortia tackling the future of learning.
Research themes
The questions driving our work — aligned with Horizon Europe, Erasmus+ and national funding priorities.
AI-Assisted Teaching & Learning
Exploring how AI tutors, content generation and intelligent feedback loops can augment — not replace — the educator.
Ethical AI in Education
Investigating fairness, bias mitigation and transparency frameworks for AI systems used in classrooms.
Secure & Privacy-First EdTech
Building student trust through GDPR-compliant architectures, data minimization and privacy-by-design principles.
Adaptive Learning Systems
Designing systems that personalize content, pacing and difficulty based on real-time learner behavior.
AI for Assessment & Feedback
Researching automated assessment, formative feedback and early warning systems for at-risk learners.
Digital Equity & Inclusion
Ensuring AI-powered education tools are accessible, culturally sensitive and available to underserved communities.
Our perspective
Where we stand on the questions that matter most to educators, governments and students.
“How can AI support educators without replacing them?”
We believe AI should be the teaching assistant that never sleeps — handling repetitive grading, surfacing insights about student progress and generating practice material, so educators can focus on what humans do best: inspire, mentor and adapt in the moment. The goal is augmentation, not automation. Every system we design keeps the teacher in the loop as the final decision-maker.
“What does ethical AI look like in a classroom?”
Ethical AI in education starts with transparency — students and parents should understand how decisions are made. It means auditing models for cultural and demographic bias, providing opt-out mechanisms and never using student data for purposes beyond learning. We advocate for open, explainable models and third-party audits as a standard, not an afterthought.
“Privacy-first by design: building student trust”
Student data is among the most sensitive data there is. We approach every project with data minimization at its core — collect only what's needed, process locally where possible, anonymize aggressively and delete by default. GDPR compliance is the floor, not the ceiling. Trust is built when students and institutions know their data serves learning and nothing else.
